I’ve been trying to get all of my health data into Apple Health, regardless of where it comes from. My scales report weight into Home Assistant, but not into Apple Health. Rather than replacing the scales, I decided to send the data across instead.
Now, whenever I step on the scales, Home Assistant receives the new weight reading and writes it into Apple Health automatically. It means I still get all of the graphs and trends in Apple Health, while Home Assistant remains the place that all of my devices connect to.
Why I prefer this approach
I’ve started preferring this over buying devices purely because they support Apple Health. If a device integrates well with Home Assistant, I can usually work with that — and then push whatever I need into Apple Health.
Using two-way sync in Health Assistant Link
For this setup I’m using the new two-way sync in Health Assistant Link. It can now write supported metrics from Home Assistant back into Apple Health, so weight was the first thing I connected.
Next on the list is getting a few more sensors feeding data into Apple Health the same way.
